Panel Deliberating on First Iraq Stabbing Case

A panel of 10 is deliberating on findings in the strange case of SPC Tyler Cain, whose girlfriend, SPC Morganne McBeth, was stabbed to death in Iraq last summer.  Cain's court-martial charges include 2 specifications of making a false official statement (a 3rd spec was dismissed yesterday) and obstruction of justice pertaining to the death.  Of note, the Article 32 Investigating Officer recommended disposing of Cain's case by means short of a court-martial, but the convening authority chose to disregard the recommendations, as was his right to do.
